The Legend comes to Manila

I've recently been given the privilege to dine at the legendary Crystal Jade restaurant at V-mall last weekend.

For those who don't know, Crystal Jade is this award winning restaurant from Hong Kong famous for their La Mian (Hand Pulled Noodles) and Xiao Long Bao (Those fantastically delightfully wonderful soupy pork dumplings). The Prices ain't too bad as well!

He made that in less than 10 seconds!

Now this place is as authentic as it gets with real Chinese chefs pulling noodle like there's no tomorrow! and if you see a bunch of Chinese families waiting for hours just to get in, you know the place is the real deal!

I guess thats what makes the place so cool, THE LINE! here's a tip! if you wanna bypass all the waiting, try not to visit the place in large groups. You'll be competing with all those families. if there are 4 of you in the group, prepare to wait 4 hours! Ask for a table for 2, we got hours in less than 20 minutes i think.

Xiao Long Bao, best eaten with a soup spoon
If there one thing you gotta order from this place, its this stuff right here. XIAO LONG BAO, this ain't your typical pork dumplings, they got some crazy soup inside. Just be careful when you eat them! they're pretty hot!

I had like 6 of these i think

Noodles nice and thick
Now for the La Mian, they've got a bunch to choose from, but its not the sauce that'll take you away, it's the noodles! They're so nice and thick, and they've got the right firmness to it... It'll carry any flavor you cook it with! If you got the cash, order some noodles after 3 or 4 orders of Xiao Long Bao!

We had a bunch of other stuff like the standard mango sago and mango pudding, and that chicken thing that you can wrap with Chinese pancakes, But the dumplings and noodles really take the cake!

When you've got the time (literally, if you got the time to wait in line), head on over to Crystal Jade and have some Xiao Long Bao and get a taste of some real Chinese Cuisine!
